Crazy Hat Day

Our school has crazy Fridays when the students and staff do random things. My favorite so far has got to be the pajama day. I of course wore my absolutely magical jim jams.
Well, today was crazy hat day. I would love to participate in these kinds of things and wear the most outlandish hat, but that would require doing something about it early in the morning when/if I remembered. Nothing is really important enough to spend precious morning time away from my bed. You can see how the jammy day really worked out well for me. Optimal. If only ever Friday were pajama day.
People really were creative with the hats. I saw a giant cheesehead as you would imagine. Not so creative here, but still fun. Then there was the cheeseburger hat, flamingo hat, and then...
I was walking to a classroom and saw a girl walking with her mother. She was wearing a gigantic purple hat with a leopard print band. What do I say? 'Nice Pimp Daddy hat.' Did I just say that to a young impressionable student in front of her mother. Yep. She about stopped dead in her tracks and admitted that that is what they called it at home, but had agreed upon 'Disco Hat' to be sensitive to school morals.
So just so you know, Pimp Daddies are alive and well in Wisconsin. I'm pretty sure it was an authentic hat.

More Ideas

I would like to own a quilt shop. Doesn't that sound delightful? There is one in the old downtown area already, so I'd have to sabotage them and take over the space. I'd just go and work there, but the ladies are a little snobby. It's like they realize the minute I walk in the door, that I buy my quilt fabric from Wal-Mart. The disgust that is in their eyes!

Also, I would like to be a professional genealogist. Oh that would be fun. I need a lot more experience though. I don't know enough yet.

Next, I would like to take the woodworking course at the local community college and then be commissioned to build beautiful furniture for rich people.

I would like to become very talented in the kitchen and work with Mario Batali. Who doesn't love him? And Rachel, he wears Crocs in the kitchen. National television and he's not embarassed! Take that.

Hmmm... also, I would like to open a garden shop with the German farmer that works at our local Wal-Mart. I am telling you that she is amazing. I even think her name is Helga. Not exactly, but something very similar. She knows every trick known to man and if you just go and stand in the plant section, she will somehow find you and in 20 minutes teach you an entire course load of horticulture information. Too bad I have the afore mentioned terrible memory.

So, unfortunately all my options that sound appealing to me require me to get a lot more information and experience. So, we'll have a little survey about which one I should pursue!

P.S. Where Are You Laura?????

Don't try to ignore me or I'll type in caps. Don't think I won't do it!
We need you to blog and for the love, post the picture of the Life Saver!
I love you girl! Missing you!

Ideas, anyone?

I am officially doing my school countdown. 7weeks, 3 days until the end of my career as a teacher. At least for the time being. So, I have been hitting the internet hard lately, looking for a possible job. I usually feel confident about my abilities and I've never felt nervous about interviews, but now as I prepare to apply for a new job, I am really getting worried.
The first concern is that I have no idea what I want to do. In my year of misery, I just assumed that any job would be better than what I'm doing right now. That being said, I don't want any job. I want a job that I will enjoy with people that I like.
The real problem is that even though I have plenty of education and experience, I have neither in areas that are helpful in a non-educator's job market.
I went to the local Farmer's Market on Saturday and really put myself out there. I must have mentioned 1/2 dozen times that I am an aspiring farmer. There were no takers, so apparently they have all the farmhands that they need right now.
I took one of those free career tests on-line and I was really confused about who they think I am. One of the parts was talking about how I really like abstract thinking (that's a bunch of crap, I am concrete girl) and that I am highly organized (um...who?) I was curious about how they got that out of my answers, but there were no real solid career ideas. Just vague comments about long term goals and people. So, yeah I like people. That much they got. People over 20. I think that is my cut off right now.
Now that I am short on ideas and the good ole' World Wide Web is of no help, I guess I'll try to get by with a little help from my friends... la la la.
Any ideas?
Seeing that I am unorganized and have a very short memory (or no memory at all)
I don't like annoying people
I'm not really great at math
and
I want to make a lot of money :)
Any ideas??

Because I love you

I am about to give you the best new recipe.
Homemade Granola Bars

(I of course am sharing this thanks to allrecipes.com)

4 1/2 cups of rolled oats
1 cup of flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup of butter (softened)
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 cups of stuff (chocolate chips, nuts, craisins, white chocolate chips, etc.)

1. Heat oven to 325. Lightly grease a 9x13 pan
2. Combine dry and then add wet ingredients. Add stuff at the end. It is 2 cups total, so I have been doing 1 cup of chips and one cup of nuts or craisins.
3. Press into pan and cook 18-22 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes and then cut into bars. Cool completely in the pan and then remove.

I have devoured a whole pan of chocolate chip/nut bars and am going to Enrichment tonight primarily to show off my new skill. I am currently cooling a pan of craisin/white chocolate/nut bars.

Trust me that these are one of the best things ever! They are so delicious. It is like a really wonderful oatmeal chocolate chip cookie under the name of a granola bar! Very healthy...don't think about all that butter.

Provacative?

I really don't want to post about the upcoming topic, but I am compelled. I hope you appreciate it, since it will embarass me more than a little.
I have been having pain in one of my toes, so I made an appointment with the Podiatrist for today. First of all, I don't think that anyone under the age of 75 should have to visit the podiatrist. So, admitting that I went, is embarassing enough.
I am sitting in the chair with my shoes and socks off (revealing about several specks of lovely nail polish that are lingering from my once fancy toes- nice and white trash, right?) and my nice Dr. starts telling me what is wrong. Then he looks down and says in a quite cheerful voice 'oh, I see you have bunions.' I literally started crying just a little. I mean, really? I told him that I was only 31. That didn't faze him at all.
Embarassing part finished! Thank you to all that will still remain friends with me. Anyone else out there with bunnions? We could start a support group. I'm gonna need one, especially if I have to start wearing grandma shoes!!
In the search, I did find these lovely little gems! You see now why I had to blog? Hush Puppies
Women's Provocative Thongs!!!!! I don't think Hush Puppies ever made a provocative shoe. Is this what 90 year old woman thing is provocative?
'Edith, you are showing some skin!!'
'I know Gladys, these are my provocative thongs!'
It's either these or velcro shoes for my foot's health. What to do?

I Got Book Tagged

Well, Becca tagged me and I wish I had a more interesting book nearby. The closest thing is Gardening Through the Year by Jane Courtier.
True Story: this book is not mine. It belongs to a random neighbor of mine. I haven't spoken to her since she lent me this book almost a year ago when I found her dog wandering in my yard and returned him home. I think her name is Sara. Maybe we'll be friends when a)the snow stops falling and b)I return her book.

Rules of this tag:
1)Find closest book
2)Turn to page 123
3) Find 5th sentence on the page
4)Put on blog and tag 5 people

So the sentence is: Densely packed spikes of lowers are pale green edged with purple; stems are topped off by a pineapple-like tuft of leaves.
Sorry that is not so interesting. It was written about the Peacock flower, just in case you are wondering.
I flipped through a few other books nearby, hoping that their page 123 would be more interesting, but not so much. There it is.
Okay, so I am going to change the tag! Find the book with the most interesting sentence 5 from page 123! Now that, I want to read.
Tagged: Any of my devoted readers that want to. There is a prize! One of Rachel's felt creations. Just kidding!

FOR THE LOVE!!!!!!

Quick post! This is about the 800th time that I have tried posting from the laptop and each time in the middle, somehow the box just closes or the computer decides to go and get some updates and GONE are my posts. :(
Sadness!

I Found It!!

Hooray for me! I figured out how to find lost posts! The Land of Lost Drafts has been located!

Here's what I was typing before so rudely interupted:

Last night on our way back from date night, John told me that it was supposed to snow last night. I immediately burst into tears. He knew I wouldn't be happy about it, but I don't think he expect the drama that I managed.

So, within the hour he was figuring out ways to make me happy once again. He came into the room later and said 'How would you like me to make breakfast for you tomorrow morning?' Yes! 'French Toast or Pancakes?' French Toast (not as good as Rachel's but a close second) 'Should I make bacon?' Um...that's a yes! Then he took over my morning dog duty, so I could just lay in bed and finish reading The Magician's Nephew. I finished, got showered, had breakfast and...went shopping!!
It was beautiful! I got a new pair of jeans (miracle of miracles) and a cute new shirt.
Plus, I am going out to dinner with the girls in about 1 hour.
So, Happy Saturday to me.
I hope you are all having a great day as well!
Love ya.
