I'm so excited that I can now post to blogger that I'm doing two updates in one day. How ya like that?
Nathan is growing so fast and if you haven't been around him lately, you should know that he's a hoot. AND he'll tell you just that. There is something about a 2 yr old saying 'I'm just a hoot' that is hilarious.
Other funny stuff he's doing lately:
He likes to use the ear thermometer to check his ears for zebras. If it beeps, there is a zebra. Better check the other ear too. Yep, another one.
Running around in his underwear is his favorite thing since potty training and I have to say that I think it's adorable.
Boom Boom Pow from Black-Eyed Peas is his favorite song. He gets in the car and asks for it every time. 'Put you hands in the AAAAIIIIRRRR. Drop the beasts now.' Really? Doesn't get funnier than that.
He continues to eat pretty much only chicken nuggets, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and mac and cheese. One of these days I'm going to tackle the eating issues with him.
He now lets himself into the fridge to check out what his 'options' are. Yep, he says options all the time. This morning he went and opened the fridge and got out some stuff. I was about to tell him to put it back, but I realized he had a Diet Coke for me and a water bottle for him. Apparently, he is also a mind reader now as well. I just need to get that kid a tall stool and a children's cookbook and maybe he can start fixing dinner.
Pretty much everyday Nathan says he wants to go to the chizem izem. It took me forever to figure out what he meant. Children's Museum is what he's after. We went to the Dallas Children's Museum last week and he spent over an hour at the sand table.
I'll try to add pictures soon as well as more of our adventures.

Friends
Nathan and I have been in Texas for a month now. We joined John and have been exploring the Dallas/Fort Worth Area together. We have begun to find routines and a small sense of homeiness in our hotel room. One thing that neither Nathan or I are comfortable with is the absense of our friends.
Every single day, Nathan talks about his friends and asks to go to their house or to play with them. I've often watched Nathan at the park, mall play area or at a friend's house. It's so interesting to me that almost instantly, he can pick out those people that he is drawn to. I don't know what it is that draws small children together, but there is no question about it, he knows who he likes. I watch him and hope that he always chooses well when it come to friends. I want him to have good friends who help him to be better. I want him to have fun friends that make him laugh. I want him to have friends that comfort him and help him when things in life are challenging. I never want him to feel alone or without someone who would do anything to help him. I want these things for him because that is what I have in my friends. I miss so many of my friends and am filled with gratitude for having been so blessed for so long by wonderful, wonderful people!

Um...Hello there dear friends
So, it's been awhile since I last blogged. I'd make excuses, but really what it boils down to is that I spend far too much time watching guilty pleasure tv, and not enough time posting. What shows you ask?
Guilty pleasure shows:
The Bachelorette
Bachelor Pad
Real Housewives of NY and also Orange Co.
Millionaire Matchmaker
Other Life Changing Shows
Bones
Project Runway
CSI (seriously Ted Danson?????)
NCIS
Law and Order:SVU (Getting rid of Stabler? Not so smart.)
Parenthood (get the Kleenex ready)
Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Anyway, as most of you know, I am in Texas now and unfortunately there is no DVR here in our hotel room. I either watch it live or I have to find time to catch it on Hulu some other evening. With the heavy tv schedule I have, I need to stay on top of things. P.S. they don't have Bravo here at the hotel. That about cuts my watching in half, so hopefully I'll be able to keep up.
Anyway, if you didn't know, John is a consultant in Dallas for Boys Scouts of America. He started at the beginning of July and Nathan and I joined him here a week ago. I refused to come while the tempuratures were still well over 100. Last week was wonderful. Then today, it spiked to 109! What on earth??? Yesterday was 103, so we pretty much have been hiding out. Last week we had a few outings.
Monday, Labor Day, we went to Fort Worth to see the Stockyards. I remembered going with Laura and the gang when we were down here some years ago. We were a little early and had about an hour and a half to kill, so we went to the Science Museum and Children's Museum. That may sound a little ambitious for just 1 1/2 hrs, but the Children's Museum is really, really small. It's almost like an activity room for parents with younger kids who are actually visiting the Science Museum. We had a great time though and will certainly go again since there was some cool stuff in the Science Museum. It is free with our Children's Museum membership from home, so we'll stop in again.
Tuesday, we stayed closer to home and went on a local exercise trail. We saw tons of people out and I thought 'I bet they are glad for nice weather so they can exercise outside.' Well, these crazies don't seem to care about that. I saw people out running yesterday and today in well over 100 degrees. Apparently, it doesn't matter around here. After lunch, we went to the library.
Wednesday we went down to downtown Dallas to Pioneer Plaza. In the park there are 40 cattle statues and 3 cowboys on their horses. It is a depiction of a cattle drive and it is pretty cool. Nathan wasn't that impressed, but got to get out and run around and we finished our Dallas visit with a trip to McDonald's, so it was a win in his eyes.
Thursday we went to the Dallas Zoo. I had heard that this one wasn't as nice as the Fort Worth Zoo, so I didn't have high expectations. I was so pleasantly surprised. The Zoo was great and they had this huge area for the elephants and giraffes. There was a raised platform near the giraffes and you could actually pay $5 to feed them and they would come right over and eat out of your hands. You could pay the money or just stand next to the sucker that had purchased the lettuce. Nathan got to pet the giraffe's face, while the other little girl was holding the food. He loved it.
We will definitely be going back there.
This weekend we did some poking around, shopping and finiding our temporary ward. We go to a building that has 4 other wards and is so busy. John suggested that we hit several Sunday School sessions and just take Nathan from one nursery to the next. We could really exploit this whole Sunday thing. It's been 5 years since I have gone to both Sunday School and Relief Society and it was such a treat!!! So grateful!
The last two days have been super hot and we've hung out in the hotel and the mall. Today, we probably spent 2 1/2 hrs at the mall play area. Nathan just rotated through the kids that were there. At one point, he was playing with this little girl. They were so chatty and having a great time together. He had no idea that she was speaking a completely different language. They would just sit on the bench and talk back and forth forever. It was adorable. He was so engaged, I think I might start speaking Spanish to him more often. He might listen better!
