I Love you Mom

My mom doesn't read my blog, but I was just going through some pictures on my computer and I found these. My mom was very attached to her dolly growing up and in fact when her parents were moving to Texas she adamently told them that she wasn't going with them unless they could find room for her baby buggy. Someone had to watch out for her doll, right? Needless to say, they found room and moved.

Can't Stand it

He's just too cute! We got him his Exersaucer on Saturday and he is so excited. He just loves it. He starts kicking and squealing when we put him in it. I just love this little fella.
I am officially up on Skype, so email me if you get up and running and want to see Nathan in action.

Tweeting

Um, hello? Anyone else surprised that Liz is on Twitter? I don't even totally get it. How old am I? How on earth am I going to keep up with Nathan. I might as well be confused by new-fangled blogs.
Liz, please post on what Twitter is and how you got to Twitting. Or is it Tweeting?

Nanny Power

Anyone have a clue why British women seem to have the corner on the market when it comes to being good nannies? I just don't get it. I actually don't mind Nanny Jo, but the other ladies in the capes are ridiculous. I can't even handle it. Maybe it's because I am in a really grumpy mood right now and I am exhausted and wish I had a nanny. Maybe it's because it is 8:30 and I want to go to bed, but I hate being unconscious through Nathan's sleeping time. Either way I'm bugged and I'm taking it out on British nannies! Go away please!
Anyone with me on this?

PSA

I was driving around town the other day and spotted a very helpful license plate. It said NO DUI. I was happy about the message because I thought that perhaps the person was trying to encourage others not to drink and drive. However as I pulled up next to the driver and turned to give a nod of encouragement, I saw that it was a REALLY old man. I realized at that point that perhaps the license was not a helpful hint, but rather his way of saying 'I'm not drunk, I'm just old.' Either way, it made me smile.
For the record I'm totally against drunk driving and I have mixed feelings about old drivers. I mean hooray that they are still independent, but sucks being stuck behind them, right?

Ouch!

In an attempt to unwind from my day, I spent the last 35 minutes reading random blogs. Somehow I only ended up on blogs where the people have changed their font to 6 instead of something a little more reasonable. I now have a huge headache and must go take a nice soaky bath to unwind from unwinding. I should have just started with the bath. And a bowl of ice cream. We don't have any ice cream in the house. Do you think John loves me enough to go out at 9pm just to buy me ice cream? Hmmm...we'll see.
Happy Friday

Plenty has happened, but nothing to say

Do you ever have those times when lots has happened in your life, but each time you sit down to blog, you have nothing to write? That is what's going on right now for me. Somehow, somewhere I lost my blogging mojo. Anyone seen it running around? I'd like it back.

General Conference food

Well, it is almost 9am here and I woke up moments ago realizing that it was General Conference today. You know when you talk about and think about something everyday for weeks and then the day hits and you somehow forget all about it? That is what almost happened to me. Almost, I said! I still get credit for remembering General Conference.
I am however sad that I don't like Rachel, have any exciting Conference food prepared. I am also sad that I have to run out really soon and buy diapers because there is a lunatic running around buying ALL the size 2 Target brand diapers. I actually drove to two seperate Targets yesterday and the shelves were full of diapers except for Nathan's size. Not a bag not a jumbo box. NOTHING! So, unless he really does turn into the perfect baby and either potty train today or never pee or poop again, I need some diapers.
Now I just realized that maybe when Conference is on-line, it is not at the same time as my ward building. Hmmm... Guess I'll be checking on that.
Back to the first thing that makes me sad...food. Not having any special food tradition that is. So, I must have some ideas, so six months from now we do not find Amanda eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch for breakfast! If I was smart, I would have saved the two Cinnamon Rolls that my friend brought over yesterday, but they didn't even make it to the table. Scarfed mid-air and boy were they good! So girls, share away. What are your favorite Conference treats? Gotta know.

Things that make me happy

After reading Andrea's post about free cookies, I started thinking about the things that make me happy. Since I am still on the Down with the Chub plan, the first things on my list were food. Also, I have not had breakfast yet.
Here goes:
1)I just got off the phone with a friend who said she is making cinnamon rolls and if they turn out she will bring me a couple
2) Ice cream
3)Cookies
4)Brownies
5)Cupcakes (thanks to Whitney's blog post this morning)
6)Going away to Chicago next week
7)We have decided Nathan is old enough for a babysitter!!!! Date nights return
8) Nathan is now sleeping through the night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
9) The way Nathan holds his hands while he is eating. He holds onto them like he is praying. I like to think he's blessing the food. :)
10) Nathan laughing. He doesn't laugh at me so much, but whenever John startles him, he laughs and laughs and laughs. I just hope it doesn't give him a heart attack, but we love it.
11) Thinking about spring
12) Going to the library
13) Spending money. Even spending money on groceries and diapers makes me happy. I'm crazy, I know.
14) Seeing birds in the trees. They know that spring is around the corner
15) Easter Candy. Mostly Peeps and the Cadbury hard shell chocolate eggs
16) Child care at my gym
17)Being able to stay home with Nathan
18)Really fabulous friends!!
I am not tagging anyone, but I do hope that you have lots that makes you happy.

Please, Oh Please!!!

If you have a music player on your blog, please, pretty please put the playlist with pause button up top on a sidebar. I have almost had 3 heart attacks in the last 10 minutes when I clicked on a blog only to be shocked by the beginning of some song. I need, need, need to be able to quickly shut off the music.
Ultimate dream request: no one would have playlists on their blogs. They seems like such a nice idea, but only once have a visited a blog and not been completely startled by the music starting.
I'm just saying. Maybe I'm the only one, but there it is.

New Leaf

This past Saturday night was the YW Broadcast and I went to the church with a total of 5 leaders and 1 Young Woman. It was a great thing that the broadcast was so wonderful or I might have been bitter about driving in the snow to buy nylons for the event and then actually having to wear them on a Saturday evening. Also lucky for us, there were ice cream sundaes after.
During the broadcast, one of the speakers mentioned that in the old goal setting program (now known as Personal Progress) one of the experiences was to go a month without gossiping. My immediate thought was that I was grateful that that was not a current requirement or I would never make it. Then I realized how sad that was and immediately determined to jump on that bandwagon and go for a new and improved Amanda. I am now on day 4 and things are going well. Even in an attempt to be funny, I have resisted! Three cheers for me!

P.S. I just realized that it is now technically April Fool's Day (who blogs at 5am??) and I thought that many of you who know me well, might think this is a joke. Let me assure you that this is not and in fact I am trying to do the impossible!
